David Urbanec is a partner of DUNOVSKÁ & PARTNERS. He started his professional career in 2000 in one of the first private law firms in Prague and was partner from 2006 to 2008. One of his main responsibilities is litigation. He has extensive experience in this field arising from representation of banks, financial institutions, investment groups and commercial companies in many cases where the value exceeded hundreds of millions Czech Crowns. His expertise in the judicial agenda comprises both litigation at general courts including the Supreme Court of the Czech Republic and the Supreme Administrative Court of the Czech Republic, and litigation at special courts including the Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic and the European Court of Human Rights.
David Urbanec specializes in financial law encompassing legal advisory in various forms of financing transactions including project finance, investment and operational financing, syndicated credits, as well as alternative types of financing such as factoring or tolling. An important part of his practice represents legal advice in M&A, due diligence procedures, negotiation of transaction conditions and drafting of relevant contractual documentation.
David Urbanec is a correspondent of the International Bar Association (IBA).
Due to his experience, David Urbanec as an expert on Czech law is often invited to provide expertise and expert opinions for international arbitration and foreign courts applying Czech law in litigation.
Since 2012, David Urbanec has been listed annually in The Legal 500 for Europe, Middle East & Africa as recommended lawyer for the areas of Banking, Finance and Capital markets.
David Urbanec has been appointed a member of the First Senate of the Appeals Commission at the Bank Board of the Czech National Bank.
